Easy now, don't get too excited

I know, three posts in two days. Relax, I won't let it happen again. I just wanted to post a couple of other photos that were taken at our office Halloween party. I thought they came out very nice. Our unofficial office photographer is very talented. (and NO I am not the photographer!)

A short trip to Escalante

Last weekend JoLynn and the boys took short trip to Escalante. Her parents own the house her Grandma grew up in. They took them down to help close up the house for winter. While they were there there they took a trip to Devil's Playground. The boys also found all sorts of sticks and bothered the neighbor's Llamas.

Take two

Ok, so I had this great post all set up and written about the new title apparently there have been complaints, so I changed it. I also had an amazing diatribe about how ridiculously often the government makes me change my password, and all the crazy rules involved. I didn't go into any details because I didn't want the guys in the black helicopters to come and take me away. But before I could post it, it got deleted. So I won't repeat it all here.

So instead of that I'll talk about Halloween. Harmony, my sister-in-law, apparently doesn't care much for Halloween. After today I think that JoLynn is in the same boat. She went to a lot of work on Corbin's costume (it came out wonderful, check out the picture). But by the end of the day she wasn't sure it was worth all of the effort. I felt bad that I didn't have time to put it more effort. Some day when time and money aren't such an issue I'd like to decorate the yard with gravestones and all sorts of spooky stuff. I'd also like to put together a really great costume. But not this year.

This year we took the boys down to the ward "Trunk-or-Treat". Now I have to say these are nice for the little kids. They get a good haul without having to walk all over the neighborhood. But thats exactly what's wrong with them. Part of the fun of Haloween was taking over the neighborhood streets for an evening. The reward was in direct relation to how far you were willing to walk. The Trunk-or-treat was a madhouse of candy distribution that was over in 30 minutes. 90% of the kids didn't even say "Trick of Treat!" I guess I'm just a traditionalist. A pillowcase of candy should be hardwon with sore feet.

Finally

So Occaisionally I do get around to posting on this thing. Last Weekend Jeff, Harmony and the boys came out. It was a nice visit and we all had a good time. We showed them the dinosaur museum (and took them inside). We checked out the dinosaur track at redfleet reservoir. It was a nice hike, but I was told it was only .75 miles in, it turned out it was 1.5, so it was a little much for a couple of the little ones. After the hike we had a nice, if a little cool, picnic up the canyon.

The weekend before that JoLynn's parents brought us out some sod. Two pallets was an excellent start, but we still have long way to go. We also managed to plant our trees finally. A couple of weeks ago JoLynn found a great deal at the nursury and got a fruitless plum, fruitless crabapple, three varigated dogwoods and six other shrubs, all for only $80. Now we just have to get the rest of the yard done.

Roaaaarrrr! Dinosaurs!

Pathetic

Ok, this is getting repetetive. I'll see if I can do a little better at this. I could blame my lack of posting on the fact that I'm working two jobs and trying to finish my masters degree, but I won't because that would just sound like whining.

This weeked JoLynn's parents are coming out and bringing us a couple pallets of sod. I'll take some before and after pictures so you can get the full effect.

OK, OK, you boss me around

So I'm the laziest blogger around. I'm new at this thing, give me a break. Plus it's just so much work. Harmony wants pictures so that means I have to find the pictures and then edit them so that they won't take forever to load. Of course that only matters to us Neaderthal's with dial-up internet access. Just for the record I hate all you broadband fancy-pantsers!

So I guess I can put something interesting, or at least marginally noteworthy. The other day we went to the Naples Splash Park. It's a play area with different fountains that the kids can play and splash in. There is no actual pool so you don't have to worry too much about the kid's safety and it's cheap. If any of you ever get out to visit us we might actually take you there. The other benefit, cheap entrance price, $2/person over 3.

Corbin and Aidan both had a good time and JoLynn was able to get some good pictures. And if I can figure out the post editor you just might be able to see them. Unfortunately I spent most of the time on the lounge chair. All week long I've been fighting some strange virus. I had a fever, fatigue, and a very difficult time swallowing. To go along with it I also had some serious pain on my right side under the ribcage. The doctor even took a sonogram of my gall bladder. They said it was very pretty and didn't have any stones or inflamation. So instead of the fun of surgery, I got abdominal pains. I did manage to drop 12 pounds over the course of the week, so it wasn't all bad. I guess that's what happens when you diet is limited to about two pudding cups/day. Effective, but I wouldn't reccomend it.

And now for something completely different.

OK, tell me what you think of the title of my blog. Is it too long? Hard to pronounce? Does it capture the current zeitgeist of our society. Is a vague reference to a skit performed by a seventies era British comedy troop inappropriate for a venue of this grandeur? Let me know.

IS THIS THING ON?

For some reason I have decided to enter the Blogosphere. I've been partly inspired partly by my sister-in-law Harmony and her blog, partly by my desire to practice my writing skills. Additionally, since we've moved to Vernal, UT I think it's a great way to keep in touch with friends and family.
So until I come up with something marginally more interesting... Tschuss.
